Hatsune Miku Joins the Undead in New Kawaii Vampire Prototype Reveal

Feb 19, 2025

Hatsune Miku has had many collectibles and taken many forms over the years. Now, a new reveal takes a look at Chinese mythology with a figurine that's as ghastly as it is gorgeous.

Shown at a recent festival, a new Hatsune Miku collectible reimagines her as a jiangshi, or a Chinese vampire. This new appearance as a hopping vampire gives her a disturbingly pale aesthetic, and the undead have never looked so good. While it's only a prototype, it's already a must-have collectible that showcases the character's universal and cross-cultural appeal.

An upcoming Hatsune Miku prototype sees "Snow Miku" hanging out with Sanrio's Kuromi and a lovable woodland creature from a Japanese festival.

The Jiangshi Hatsune Miku figurine debuted at Wonder Festival 2025 Winter, aka WonHobby 39. Created by Design Coco, it was designed by artist Honda Loalo, who's known for working on designs and collectibles based around the Touhou Project franchise. In the case of the Miku statue, the Vocaloid character is both familiar yet distinct from her usual aesthetic. This time around, her typical costume is switched out for one based on a jiangshi, or a "hopping vampire" in Chinese mythology. Fittingly, her skin is chalky white, with her arms posed outward in the usual position of the jiangshi as her legs prepare to pounce. There's also a file-like talisman on her head, further denoting her status as one of the undead. Her pigtails are now braided at the ends, and she has an almost tiara-like headband to pair with her fluffy dress.

At her feet is a spiked fence surrounding the base, and along with her semi-Gothic and Lolita attire, it gives a truly creepy visage to the usually fashionable Miku. This was just one of several Hatsune Miku figurines and other collectibles shown at WonHobby 39, but unfortunately, the initial images are all that fans have to go on as of writing, as the figurine is currently still in development, with a release date and price still pending.
